BIO

Arnie has been creating art forms for over 20 years, originally as a dentist working with esthetics and form. His work with wood began with hand carved objects, then blossomed into the use of power tools for larger projects. He transitioned into the use of stone for figurative and abstract art and fell in love with the color and textures of stone.

When he retired from his dental practice, his desire for creativity and beauty did not. He learned how to use a wood lathe and started turning wood. He has since combined wood and stone, two juxtaposing materials that when put together offer a delightful visual and sensory experience.

Four years ago, the Thomas Fire destroyed thousands of acres in Western Ventura County and Southern Santa Barbara county. Manzanita was one of the many trees and bushes damaged. The subsequent rains that followed washed the charred wood into the ocean. Arnie has collected the driftwood as charcoal stumps, sculpted and turned the manzanita into art forms with a deep rich red color.
